Overview

Library is a Spells support building that can add an enchantment stack to an adjacent troop. The official card reference describes a 50% chance per application, with additional applications at higher building levels. It needs an eligible troop and an enchantment worth growing; an empty support corner does not create useful stacks by itself.

Create a relevant recipient

Start with the troop whose enchantment matters to the build. Put that troop next to Library and make sure it already has a relevant enchantment. A clean arrangement makes the intended relationship easier to inspect than a crowded set of several possible recipients. This is placement advice, not a guarantee that the game selects the same troop and enchantment every year.

Library is not Farm. Farm adds units; Library develops an enchantment stack. A troop-count strategy and an enchantment strategy can share a recipient, but the building's payoff is different. Nor does a displayed number of effect applications guarantee the same number of successful enchantment additions.

Match the enchantment to the battle

Steel Coat provides protection against incoming hits. Reinforce provides battle-time HP growth. Adrenaline and other enchantments can address other needs. Decide which failure the army is facing before spending a plot on additional stack growth. More stacks of the wrong effect may not solve a lack of damage or an exposed base.

Wizard has an enchantment-related damage mechanic introduced in the Spells rework. That creates a reason to investigate an enchanted Wizard recipient, but it does not provide a tested universal build. Read the troop and active perk text; do not assume every king receives the same Wizard modifier.

Library and Surge in the current version

Surge is a Rainbow tome added in Patch 30 that triggers a support building's effect nine times. Patch 31 explicitly fixed a broken Surge/Library interaction. Current planning should use the corrected relationship; an older exploit demonstration is not evidence of a continuing unlimited loop.

The official change log does not publish a complete probability, selection and rounding model for every combination of Library level, Overwork and Surge. This guide therefore does not output an exact expected stack count for a specific hand. Use the current tooltip and observe the effect in your actual run.

Timing and survival

A Library is a long-term investment only if the combat troop survives long enough to receive and use growth. Compare the support slot with an immediate defender or an upgrade. Before committing, identify the next battle's threat and check whether the current army can handle it without the replacement combat plot.
