Choose the right change
Read the package role and the test that distinguishes it from a normal launch.
Use a manager when you want to track a set of packages, switch configurations or return to a baseline without reconstructing every choice. r2modman provides profiles, enabling and disabling packages, updates and configuration editing. It is a tool, not an extra card, king or gameplay feature.
Build a baseline profile
Start by finding 9 Kings in game selection and checking the detected installation. Keep a profile for one small test rather than importing a large pack whose contents you have not inspected. Record the loader and plugin versions before accepting an update.
A useful test has three visible results: the correct game launches, the required plugin appears, and the ordinary setup still launches when the experimental packages are disabled. If only the manager window opens, you have not tested the plugin.
Share the setup, not a performance claim
A profile export can describe your configuration. It does not prove the same behavior on a different patch or machine. When sharing a profile, include the game version, plugin purpose and any setting needed to reproduce the feature.
Return to the baseline
Disable the last package added, relaunch through the same profile, and compare the same small scenario. If you also copied plugins manually, identify those files separately; disabling a manager package does not establish that unrelated manual modifications were removed.

A reversible first test
Follow the author procedure, verify one feature and preserve the ordinary baseline.

Partially verifiedSelect the game and profile
Find 9 Kings, verify the detected installation, and create a separate profile for the first test.
Partially verifiedInstall one wanted feature
Check its dependency and author instructions; inspect the profile package list rather than assuming the manager adds a feature by itself.
Partially verifiedLaunch and compare
Launch the profile, verify the feature, then disable that package and compare another short launch.
Partially verifiedReturn to your baseline profile
Disable experimental packages or select the preserved profile. Account for any manual modifications separately.

Common questions
Use the stated evidence boundary when deciding whether to install.
Is a manager required for every mod?
No. Some author pages provide manual installation. Use the workflow documented for the chosen package.
Partially verifiedDoes finding a package in the manager prove it works?
Report a reproducible issue
Send software problems to the original author with the exact versions and a short reproduction.
Give the author a short reproduction
Include game version, package version, loader version, active profile and the setting involved. State whether a fresh run without this package works.
